One of at least nine, according to family tradition went off to sea when 14. Was a newsagent at one time. In 1901 was farmer and poultry rearer near New Quay and eventually baker and confectioner shops / flour dealer in Liverpool docklands, living in Birkdale.
Arthur married Mary Emlyn Morris, daughter of Samuel Morris and Mary Rowlands, on 28 Sep 1897 in Seaforth. (Mary Emlyn Morris was born on 9 Jun 1863 in Everton, Liverpool and died on 25 Apr 1934 in Birkdale.)
